Tips for New Athletes:
1. Train safe
2. Technique is key
3. Get a solid foundation first
4. Look for a meet that is local, close to home, no overnight stay in a hotel.
5. First Meet set realistic objectives with your weights, don't worry about winning or loosing.
6. Most important have fun.
Competing should be fun and challenging, it provides you with an objective, something to strive for. As you become accustom to competing the weights will come if the foundation is solid. Technique must be the focus of any beginner, without this injuries can occur. Get help from a profesional regarding technique. Avoid overtraining, most new athletes overtrain for events and peak to early, this is a common occurence. Listen to your body and recover from routines. You only grow when you sleep, so get plenty of it.
