Recommend Websites for Inexpensive Strength/Speed Equipment?

Hello All!

I'm the Head Strength Coach at a Junior College in SoCal, and our resources are somewhat limited. With that being said, can anyone recommend any websites where I can order inexpensive equipment:

bumper plates, olympic weightlifting bars, sleds, harnesses, bungees etc.? I guess I could go through perform better, but I'm looking for decent equipment at a discounted rate.

Or does anyone know if bigger division I universities donate or sell their old weight room equipment once they upgrade their facilities?

Thanks!

The one thing I will say is that Perform Better stands behind its stuff like nobody else.  Yes, it may be a bit more expensive, but I have decided its worth it.  That's after learning the hard way with companies like Power Systems, Samson, and New York Barbell.  That being said, we make home made stuff when its safe to do so.  Sleds - old tires w/ plywood at the bottom and weights stacked inside, Hurdles - PVC pipe works great, Rope/Chain - Check out an Industrial Supply company.

There are a lot of gently used equipment out there. Check government sales both state and federal are good. Alpha Doug and Mike Adams Fitness seem to have the best prices and high quality bands.

let him know Carey Hadderton gave you his contact info.

Company in Orange county called Functional Equipment that is making racks, bars bumpers and such.

Best prices I have found for kettlebells are through Wal-Mart. Cap KB. Good finish and handles and free shipping to the store. They come in pounds, but you can't beat the price and actually  good quality KB.

Thank you everybody for your help! I appreciate you taking the time to kick a little knowledge to me about these alternative sites/businesses!

Hello, I have a nearly new Vertimax pro 6 (with extra waist belts/harnesses and accessories) I am willing to part as well as a slide board with extra bootie socks.  If interested, I live in in Hanford, just south of Fresno.

John,

Thanks! Do you have a number for them? Or their website? I can't seem to find them online.

USC is currently getting a new weight room... Look into where their old equipment is going.
